Braun Intertec opened the doors to its Cedar Rapids, Iowa office in 2009. The Cedar Rapids team provides environmental consulting, geotechnical engineering and consulting, construction materials testing, materials laboratory testing, non-destructive examinations, building sciences, and concrete consulting. In addition, our Braun Intertec Drilling crew delivers a wide array drilling services to our clients.
The skills and experience of the Cedar Rapids staff allows them to serve our clients with a wide variety of services across several market sectors, including transportation, flood control, industrial and manufacturing, municipal, education, energy, and commercial including office, retail and mixed use developments. Our portfolio includes the Highway 52 Bridge over Mississippi River Backwater, Iowa River Levee, Cedar Rapids Library, University of Iowa School of Music and Hancher Auditorium, Red Rock Hydroelectric Dam, and various wind farms around the state.

In June 2015, Braun Intertec opened an office in the Kansas City area by teaming with an existing operation that started in 1989. Our local staff has worked on over 2,000 projects in the region. The staff in the office has grown by 15%.
We have experience in all markets within the Kansas City region with a focus on education, healthcare, retail, commercial, agriculture, transportation, and residential. We recently won a five-year contract to support the State of Kansas, Department of Health and Environment with environmental services. Other key projects include the first ever Amazon Fulfillment center in the Kansas City area, over one million square feet; the $300M, 13-story cancer surgery center for The University of Kansas Hospital; the New Olathe High School – a 300,000 sf, three-story building; and the $268M design-build Gateway Interstate improvement for Kansas DOT.
Our capabilities include professional staff with local experience and a nationally accredited laboratory for soil, aggregate, concrete and asphalt; and a fleet of six trucks.

Our Lafayette lab opened in 2014, which started with a single employee and grew as our first project with the City of Youngsville took off, hiring support staff, including a full-time Quality Assurance Inspector to perform inspection services for the project. Since then we have continued to grow our client base and offer quality services. Our second office, which serves the Lake Charles area, opened in August 2016.
Our local team members have experience in many service areas, including: geotechnical engineering, environmental consulting (Phase I,II,III), cone penetration testing, nondestructive examination, construction materials testing and inspection services as well as building sciences. We have significant experience across several market sectors, with a focus on education, healthcare, retail, commercial, agriculture, transportation, and residential.
Some of our projects include: the complete reconstruction of base and overlay for Savoy Road, SEAL Coat and Engineered Materials Arresting Systems (EMAS) project at the Lafayette Regional Airport, and the OxBow mine expansion project, which consists of mine expansion, haul roads, bridges, pond, slurry walls, etc. Our team has also been supporting the city of Lafayette in the wake of the recent flood, head to our blog for an informative article on best practices to prepare for flooding.

The history of our company first began in Minnesota, when in 1957, Jack Braun founded the company out of his Minneapolis home. Today, Braun Intertec is a leading engineering, environmental, design and testing firm in Minnesota, with six offices around the state including Rochester, Mankato, Minneapolis, St. Paul, St. Cloud, Hibbing, and Duluth.
We provide clients with our award-winning services in the retail, commercial, utilities, residential, water infrastructure, mining, oil and gas, transportation, industrial/agriculture, institutional, and healthcare sectors. Since 1975, Braun Intertec has been working in North Dakota with locations in Fargo, Bismarck, Minot, Dickinson and Williston. With strong knowledge of the geography, Braun Intertec leverages local experience to provide our clients with interrelated services for various projects.
As the population in North Dakota has grown, Braun Intertec has been the Consultant of Choice for local and national clients across the state within transportation, institutional, commercial, Oil and Gas, and flood control markets. These include bridges and bypasses to accommodate the increase in traffic around the state; state-of-the art schools; flood control services for multiple communities; commercial and retail buildings to accommodate the population growth across the state; and infrastructure in the Bakken including gas plants, pipelines, compressor stations, terminal sites, and well pads.
By knowing the geology and geography of the state, our local experts can provide professional services in geotechnical engineering and consulting, construction materials and special inspections, materials laboratory testing, non-destructive testing, American Petroleum Institute (API) inspections and environmental services.

In 2015, we extended our presence throughout Texas with the acquisition of Apex Geoscience, a southern-based geotechnical engineering, testing and environmental consulting firm. This acquisition increases our ability to support clients throughout the central United States. For more than 20 years, our local team has offered environmental consulting, geotechnical engineering and testing services. In addition, with the acquisition, we now offer Building Sciences, Nondestructive Examination, Forensic Investigations and Cone Penetration Testing (CPT) services.
Some of the key markets in Texas include oil and gas, transportation, education, municipal, and commercial (including retail). Significant Texas projects include the Xcel Headquarters in Amarillo, Legacy Tower in Plano, The Terraces at Douglas Center in Dallas, Midwestern State University and UT Tyler, City of Galveston, City of Amarillo, and the City of Fort Worth.

The employees of our La Crosse, Wisconsin office take pride in offering exceptional service to our clients. Since 1995, our employees have served the area, continuing the Braun Intertec tradition of being the consultant of choice. When you require special services in the areas of environmental, geotechnical, or materials testing, you can count on our commitment to quality performance and service delivery.
We are a trusted consultant to our clients. Our local team has built long-standing relationships with a variety of clients, ranging from major retailers throughout the state, petroleum producers and distributors, as well as government and transportation departments. We currently operate one of the few soils lab in the state that is fully accredited by the Army Corps of Engineers, along with Cement and Concrete Reference Laboratory (CCLR) and American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (ASHTO) Materials Reference Library (AMRL).
