Braun Intertec Welcomes Steven Biegel

Braun Intertec, a premier engineering, consulting and testing firm with offices throughout Texas, is pleased to announce the hire of Senior Architect, Steven Biegel, AIA, NCARB, LEED AP. As a seasoned architect, Biegel brings decades of experience in existing conditions assessments, building diagnostics, building envelope systems, moisture migration, indoor air quality and energy conservation. In his role as Senior Architect, he will lead technical investigations of existing building conditions and oversee activities for the firm’s Building Sciences group in both the Austin and Houston metropolitan areas.

Over the course of his 37-year-career, Biegel has designed or directed more than 400 buildings and residences throughout the United States. His architectural design experience includes such notable projects as the renovation of the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in New York City, renovation planning for the U.S. Department of Agriculture South Building in Washington, DC, K-12 schools in Houston, Austin and Beaumont, Texas, as well as high-rise condominium projects throughout the southeast and along the Gulf coast.
Biegel previously served as the Director of Energy Programs for the American Consulting Engineers Council (ACEC), and Vice President of the National Institute of Building Sciences (NIBS). Biegel has also served as Chairperson of the Council for Federal Procurement of Architecture & Engineering Services (COFPAES), a hybrid organization dedicated to protecting the qualifications-based selection (QBS) process in all branches of government. Biegel holds a bachelor of architecture degree from Syracuse University, is NCARB certified and licensed in 11 states.
