They found an opportunity with the Wichita Falls Faith Mission which has the goal of eliminating homelessness in their community. Ben Tanko, a geotechnical engineer from our Bloomington office, recently traveled to Guatemala with a group of engineers from Minneapolis/St. Paul to help build a school in a rural community. Ben is a member of the Minnesota chapter of Engineers Without Borders (EWB). EWB is a nonprofit organization that partners with communities in developing countries to help design, fund, and construct projects they need. Braun Intertec Volunteers with Adopt a Highway

Several of our employee-owners recently volunteered their time to clean up a two-mile segment of I-94 as part of the Minnesota Department of Transportation’s (MnDOT) Adopt a Highway Program. Braun Intertec has participated in the program since 2015, which has volunteers pledge to pick up litter along Minnesota’s state highways at least twice a year. The Adopt a Highway program first started in 1990 and helps the state of Minnesota save over $7 million each year. Braun Intertec wrapped up its fifth year participating in the MS 150, a charity bike ride for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. The 150-mile weekend ride is fully supported by the MS Society and runs from Duluth to the Twin Cities with an overnight rest stop in Hinckley. The MS 150 ride began in the mid-1980s and has since grown into multiple events across the United States, making it the largest charity bike event in the nation. Construction Day Camp: Volunteering with Girls Inc. Earlier this month one of our Arlington team members, Camber Mathis, volunteered at the second annual Construction Day Camp held by the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC). The event hosted 60 girls ranging from ages six to nine, all from the program Girls Inc., which serves underprivileged girls by providing mentoring opportunities to become successful women.
