We spoke with Jennifer Adams about her new role as Vice President and Director of the South-Central Permitting and Compliance division. Read below to learn about how Jennifer got involved in the environmental field, her role at Braun Intertec, and what she’s learned in her 18+ years working in environmental compliance.

What is your current role at Braun Intertec?

I am the Vice President and Director of South Central Compliance and Permitting

What is your professional background?

I started working in the concrete, cement, and aggregate industry for about eight years focusing on environmental compliance. I moved to consulting about seven years ago and have enjoyed the exposure to so many different industries.

How did you first become involved in this field?

I have always loved science and had a spark back in 4th grade to do “something” in the environmental field. I did not necessarily know exactly what that meant back then but I’ve been grateful for that spark my entire career.

What is the most rewarding part of your role at Braun Intertec? What do you feel makes working at Braun Intertec unique?

I really enjoy working with people, both internally and externally. It’s very rewarding to see people grow and learn and provide those opportunities for excellence. I really appreciate the opportunity to build client relationships. I think our client relationships, the ones that really feel like an extension of that client’s team, are one of the things that make our team at Braun Intertec unique.

What’s the most exciting thing you are working on right now?

I just spent a week with a coworker doing an audit for a client outside Fort Wayne, Indiana. Spending 10 hours a day with the client for a whole week was a lot of fun! I think experiences like that are why we do what we do as consultants- it’s all about building positive relationships.

What qualities do you look for in team members?

A willingness to make mistakes and learn, the ability to work together to provide the best solution to clients, and communication.

What is the best advice you can give for new Braun Intertec employees or someone entering your profession?

Make it a point to reach out to people in other offices or across disciplines.

What fuels your passions outside of work?

Like a lot of us at Braun Intertec and in the environmental field, I enjoy travel and the outdoors. Hiking and exploring new places are two of my favorite things outside of work. The ocean is my happy place. I grew up in Texas without traveling much until my early 20s, so I now try to explore as many places as I can. It’s so interesting to see both the differences and similarities in people, culture, etc. wherever you go.
