We spoke with Gregg Kruse about his new role as Senior Vice President and Corporate Officer, what he finds most rewarding in his career and his approach to client problem-solving. Read more to learn about Gregg’s professional background, why he loves working at Braun Intertec, and his favorite part of his role. 

What is your current role at Braun Intertec? 

I lead the company’s environmental consulting division and provide strategic direction on operations as well as long-term growth, building teams and developing leaders at Braun Intertec. Also, I am part of our merger and acquisition efforts, where I focus on culture and integration of new business partners. 

What is your professional background? 

I have a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration with a long list of professional accreditations and certifications. I am active in many associations including the American Council of Engineering Companies and the National Association of Environmental Professionals. My technical focus areas include environmental investigation and remediation, industrial hygiene, and hazardous materials. 

What interested you in your profession? 

I stumbled upon my career as an environmental professional fresh out of college with very little knowledge of the industry. However, I could see the need and the importance and jumped in with both feet. I quickly realized that this was a tangible way to make a real impact on our environment and I have spent the last 30-plus years partnering with others to that end. 

What is your favorite aspect of your role or the most rewarding part of what you do at Braun Intertec? 

I get the greatest satisfaction out of building teams, developing leaders, and growing the business. I have always taken more pride in the success of the team versus individual success. I have been fortunate to be part of some great teams with excellent leaders, and the most rewarding part of my job is helping to build successful teams. 

What is your favorite thing about working at Braun Intertec? What do you feel makes it unique? 

My favorite thing hands down is the culture, and the people who drive that culture. At Braun Intertec it’s a family culture of stewardship to our employee owners, dedication to our clients, and living out our values. 

What is your approach to client problem-solving? 

Listen, ask questions, put myself in their shoes, see the big picture, identify what matters, analyze, gain understanding, consider creative and cost-effective solutions, listen more, and collaborate to deliver on the solution. 

What qualities do you look for in your team members? 

Critical thinking is one important quality. Additionally, a desire to serve others, as well as being reliable and responsible, supportive, flexible, accountable, and a strong will to succeed.  

What should new Braun Intertec employees know about working here? Do you have a piece of advice for someone entering your profession? 

My advice is to be your best. Do the right thing. Be a self-starter. Take ownership. Be a team player. Surround yourself with great people. Be a leader. And go the extra mile.
