Small municipal separate storm sewer systems (MS4s) such as those located at colleges or universities located in urbanized areas, must apply for a permit and develop/implement a stormwater management program (SWMP). Small MS4s first became regulated in 2008 in Texas. The campuses in Fort Worth (an urbanized area) required assistance in developing and implementing their SWMP.
W&M Environmental (now owned by Braun Intertec) provided assistance on this municipal project which consisted of developing a Storm Water Management Program (SWMP) for all campuses. This included developing awareness materials (brochures, posters, public service announcements), training materials and conducting training, developing SWMP maps for the campuses, writing the policy for storm water management, and developing a procedure manual for implementing the SWMP.
Our team continues to assist these facilities with SWMP revisions and updates, training, public education and awareness, as well as recordkeeping and reporting requirements.
