The intersection of TH 13 and State Highway 101 in Savage ranked high on a statewide-list of high-cost intersections with accidents totaling nearly $1.3 million annually. To alleviate the congestion, an eastbound flyover bridge was constructed. The project was located amidst several sensitive environmental resources, including: the Minnesota River Valley Wildlife Refuge, the Savage Fen Wetland Complex, the Eagle Creek trout stream, and numerous wetlands and springs.
Braun Intertec developed a unique Artesian Management Plan and Well Network Monitoring Plan to identify and mitigate impacts to the artesian groundwater and protect these vulnerable environmental resources.
