Naturally Occurring Radioactive Material (NORM) is commonly observed in oil & gas and industrial facilities. Examples include oil & gas field piping, refractory brick, metal smelting operations, mining wastes and ash, and fertilizers with phosphates.
Braun Intertec performs NORM surveys as on-going or special projects basis to help determine if NORM is present at levels exceeding your state’s exemptions criteria. We determine the source of elevated radiation levels in a scrap, and segregate those materials so that the scrap can be recycled and radioactive materials properly disposed of.
Our services include temporary Radiation Safety Officer, licensing assistance, and general Health Physics Consulting. The following areas describe typical zones of coverage that we can provide:
Compliance audit of Radiation Protection Program, including records review:
- Licensing and Regulations
- Procedures and Operations Manual
- Dose Assessments or Effluent Calculations

- “As Low As Reasonably Achievable” (ALARA) program development
